The Gombe Schools Brand is a private independent and progressive education brand consisting of three schools i.e. Scooby-Doo Day Care and Nursery school, Gombe Junior School and St Andrew Kaggwa Gombe High School. The Gombe Schools Brand serves learners from nursery/kindergarten up to secondary school.
The schools, which are a pioneer in progressive education, were founded by Mr and Mrs Kyewalabye, as child centered institutions, focusing on the holistic development of children and creating lifelong learners. The founders believe in accomplishing this through a rich broad based curriculum, child centered learning environment, physical education and nurturing a child’s social potential through encouraging participation in co-curricular activities.
Gombe schools comprises three schools, targeting different age groups located on different campuses and managed by professional staff. Corporate oversight is provided by the Directors and a Board of Governors (BoG) comprising eminent persons from different stakeholders.
Brief History about Gombe Schools
Scooby Doo Day care and Nursery School.
Scooby-Doo Day Care and Nursery school provides a homely environment for children from the age of 3 months to 6 years. Children aged from 3 months to2.5 years are taken care of under the Day Care section and as they mature, the school enables them to progress to the Nursery School that caters for 3 to 6 years. The school is located in a homely environment in Kikajjo, Natete along the Katale Seguku road.
The school offers a unique brand of education by focusing teaching around play. This encourages involvement of the young learners while building their social skills. The school employs qualified and experienced Nursery teachers and follows the learning frame work with an integrated way of teaching, developed by the National Curriculum Development Centre (NCDC). The school believes in the involvement of parents in the teaching of the children at an early stage, hence invites parents at any time, to witness and interact with the teachers and pupils during learning.
Gombe Junior School
Gombe Junior School was started in February 2013, with a school population of 150 students. The school was mainly started to offer a unique education brand that addressed the gaps that had been observed in the traditional methods of teaching that were commonly practiced in primary schools in Uganda. Gombe Junior school sought to produce learners who were critical thinkers, creative while aiming to attain the highest level of excellence in academics.
The school, which boasts both day and boarding facilities is run by a team of qualified and experienced staff who exhibit the highest level of commitment in identifying and nurturing the learners’ individual potential. The facilities, practices and professional standards are in line with its desire to become the model 21st Century School in Uganda. Since its inception, Gombe Junior School boasts of numerous achievements with regard to attainment of high academic standards as well as nurturing talent in music, arts and sports.
St Andrew Kaggwa Gombe High School
St. Andrew Kaggwa, Gombe High School, is the latest addition to the Gombe Schools family. The school was created, in response to the need for a secondary institution that provides the quality education experienced by learners in the nursery and primary schools under the Gombe schools family.
The Gombe Schools Education Brand
The Education sector in Uganda is developing at a fast rate. The demands on the institutions have grown with the ultimate goal of ensuring that students can ably cope with a dynamic world and contribute to the development of their societies.
Gombe schools, operating under the “Gombe schools Education Brand” seeks to be the model educational institution that focuses on supporting the learner achieve excellence is academics as well as the co-curricular activities. In order to achieve this, Gombe Schools shall standardize its delivery of education through introducing a broad and balanced curriculum that enables a child excel academically while at the same time building the learner as a valuable citizen equipped with the most valuable skills to excel in the world.
Gombe schools further seeks to create a learner friendly environment that is safe and hygienic through establishment of the best infrastructure catering for all students needs. At Gombe Schools, teaching will be learner centered and delivered by a team of competent staff who aim to make learning as interactive and enjoyable as possible. This will be done through the integration of internationally and acceptable practices that appeal to a diversity of students. The Gombe Schools brand welcomes the increased involvement of parents in the growth of the children by creating platforms that enable parent, teacher and learner interaction.
To achieve these aspirations, Gombe Schools has developed its Strategic Plan to guide it in the achievement of its vision over the next 3 years i.e. 2017-2019.
