The skills department was established in response to the government’s call for students to be given holistic education. This aimed at equipping students with Life and Vocational skills.
To motivate the girl-child, many of the Instructors recruited to handle the skills training execution were women though the department still has a substantial number of male instructors.
The students are also trained and encouraged to use local based raw materials in the production of various crafts. By the time many of our students complete either “O” or “A” Levels, they are in position to sustain themselves economically thereby enjoying their University Life and Life after School.
The department in line with the school’s notion for holistic education, production of self-sustaining and self-reliant students/ citizens aims at skilling all admitted students to Gombe High School in various vocational fields including the following;

The students weave and knit Scarfs, Table Cloths etc.

Exceptional art is exhibited in producing decoration material from empty wine bottles

Shaggy Carpets Making
|
No school in Uganda is better than Gombe High School students when it comes to making door steps and indoor shaggy carpets. They are so beautiful.

Book Making
|
Our students have been trained to produce their daily needed Note books for personal use and the excess can be extended for charity causes.

Key Holders
|
Students produce trendy key Holders from wood, rubber, etc.

Urban or Compound farming
|
Agriculture on small scale in sacks, small vegetable gardens etc. for students’ diet.

Music, Dance and Drama
|
The Jazz and Brass Bands encourage original compositions by students.
Our students enjoy Music Instruments’ lessons e.g. Piano, Guitar and African Traditional Music Instruments. They perform at Royal and National invitations

|
With cheap material from within our localities our students are capable of making their own Liquid soap , perfumed soaps etc.

Games and Sports have become a highly rewarding Enterprise and therefore great attention and care has been extended to these as well.
